022 You can get all A's and still flunk life
Sunday, February 1, 2009 3:02 PM
In case you do not know, this is already my third post for the day.
Scroll down to read my two other posts if you haven't!
They're filled with words and photos.
This post's just gonna be words. I gotta give an account of what's been happening to me in school these days right! :D At least Nadia's interested to know. Yippee :)
Well, after CNY hols, there was a Physics test. I flunked it totally. Like really totally. Sometimes I really wonder why I'm so weak at Physics. I used to do fine, but when Electromagnetism (+ induction) were taught, I got so freaked out and screwed up.
I MESSED UP ALL THE FACTS!
What I've summed up these few days of constant thinking and reflecting, is that
I BLOODY KNOW THE FACTS BUT I DON'T KNOW HOW TO APPLY THEM.
That's one big problem alright. It's ironic to see how others've scored well w/o much studying and how much I've studied for it and yet still flunk it. I'm flared up. ROARS!
Enough of Physics, now to Chemistry.
Ever since Miss Kho took over my class for Chemistry, my love for Chemistry has evolved greatly, and I could feel a spot in my heart has been planted for this subject. Which means,
I'M BEGINNING TO LOVE CHEMISTRY!
Contradicting enough, no matter how much I love it, I still DO NOT score in class/surprise tests. Even Miss Kho asked me several times,
"Why are you always stuck there and not progressing?"
"Is this your best?" She wrote in one of the tests. It was a class test, which means time was given for us to prepare, yet I didn't score well in it. :(
Why why why?
I still do not understand. But, one thing I definitely know, is that
THE PASSION YOU'VE IN ONE SUBJECT IS NOT
DIRECTLY PROPORTIONAL TO THE RESULTS YOU
ACHIEVE.
Well, this is often the case for me, except for Mathematics you can say. I've been trying so hard to prove this statement of mine wrong. Hmm, maybe I've not enough practise? Maybe I've not understood the chapters enough? Maybe it's just me who isn't giving my best all along?
No matter what, I WILL NOT GIVE UP! I will still be constantly spurred to keep me going in this long journey. :D Can I do it?
YES, I DEFINITELY CAN!
Whooosh, so motivating. Now to Mathematics.
I'm really glad I scored quite well for my Modulus test. That's one of the tests I really prepared for. Could have gotten even higher had not for Miss Leong's murderous marking scheme.
I got my half-mark minused off just because my sketched graph ain't symmetrical. How much do you expect from art-idiots like me?! Hahaha.
Well, I'm not trying to be crude here. In fact, I think Miss Leong's marking style's great. She's trying to make us take note of ALL THE POSSIBILITIES THAT CAMBRIDGE MARKERS MIGHT FIND TO MINUS MARKS OFF OUR ANSWER SCRIPTS.
I believe, in the long term, this will serve to help us PERFECTIONISE (does this word exist?) our workings and not get a single mark deducted off by any teachers! 4E will work towards this ultimate goal and get 100% distinctions for you! :D
Needless to say, I'm definitely a supporter of her marking methods! Not if she minused every single mark off my answer script of course, I'm being practical here. Hahaha. :D
I love A Mathe forever laaaa! We're learning Differentiation now and I own this chapter la! Sorry for the confidence, but I think this chapter is really niceee. :D Although I still do not know what differentiation means, but the steps are all so solid (like in a crystal lattice structure) and we can score easily.
That's the main reason why I love A Mathe. Practise, remember the formulae and steps, and you'll get your A. Of course you need an ample amount of PASSION in it. Ah, I sound like a professional hahaha whops.
I think I got tooo carried away while talking bout Mathematics. I promise this will be short post, but turned out, not short at all. Hahhaa.
Now to Chinese. I've already made a vow to score an A1 for my Higher Chinese in the O's. Question now is only WHETHER I'M WILLING TO WORK HARD FOR IT OR NOT.
PPFFPP's gonna buy the Higher Chinese TYS once it's out. So am I! Hahaha yes, copy you. But practice makes perfect right! And like what Mdm Yong always says, you needa write constantly to achieve good results for Paper 1! :D
Now to English, a subject which I find I've difficultly acing it. Somehow I think, the chances of my getting an A for English in my O'Level is slim. Really really slim. I guess I'm not working hard enough.
Heard from Guanyeow that his friends in his batch who got A1 for their English wrote essays everyday, and read up A LOT. Gah, guess it's time I've to pick up a habitto read. I've always disliked reading. It makes me feel headachey easily. Still, I'm gonna make weekly trips to the library if I can, and borrow 2 books each time! Hahahha. :D
Wait, can my library card be used? Or can I use my EZ-Link card? Hahahha.
Whatever it is, I need urgent brushing up on my English. Period.
Lastly, on Combined Humanities. I think I'm so gonna die. I've little underdstandings on the chapters after Fascist Japan (for History) and Bonding Singapore (for Social Studies).
IT'S ALL BECAUSE I DON'T BOTHER TO READ IT THE SECOND TIME!
Everytime Mr Tan finished going through this chapter, I don't bother to bring the textbooks back home and read them again the second/third time for a better understanding. I used to do that in the past, but now, I guess it's all laziness. I've many lazy habits to kick off man. Shall list them out now:
1. Not reading frequently, including newspapers 2. Not reading up on History/Social Studies textbooks 3. Not practising enough for Physics 4. Not working hard enough for Chemistry (I've always thought I've)
Well, well, guess it's time for me to spank these bad habits off. Of course, it takes time. I'll have to do it one-by-one.
My road to success starts here.
P/S: This post is meant to be motivational for me. I'll write more of these posts once in a while and read them whenever I've lost the drive.
Rest well, every one. Do not fall sick! :D
