002 Beijing Immersion Trip 2008 (Day 1)
Saturday, December 6, 2008 8:01 PM

Good evening pals. As promised, I'll blog about Beijing. Okay, the trip was AWESOME, simply awesome! It is my second time overseas, and wheeee, I really did enjoy myself, to a laaaaaaaaarge extent.

Alright, here's my Day 1 experience. I'll only blog day by day so you guys have to be a little patient. Of course, I won't leave out the most beloved pictures. But my photos aren't so nice compared to the others, so I hope it wouldn't be a disappointment to y'all.

Oh and by the way, the photos are free to be koped, and they do not contain my url, so feel free to right click on it and kope them, if you want. *winks*

Here goes.

(Day 1)

Wheeeeee. Woke up early in the morning, I think around 4.45am. Was like darn excited! Dad woke me up, and vroom I got up, and wenta wash up. I was THAT excited. Really really can't wait. So, at around 5.45am, after several times of checking and ensuring that I DID NOT miss out anything, I left my house with my parents.

Cabbed down to Changi T3, reached at around 6.20am? Surprisingly, I wasn't the first. I thought I was manzx, until I saw people like Kai Ling, Gim Chow, Lu Yi etc etc. Then I saw Mr Cheng. OMFG I was damn nervous I swear. But Mom's constant nagging just makes me feel so ugh, bored.

Then Tao came. Wheeeee :) Then more people came. Took attendance and all. Off we go! :D Handed our luggages and we went to take group photos. Before group photos was the presentation of lanyards. When Mdm Lee gave me my lanyard, she went like, "This boy ah, sure can lah," with Mdm Yong beside saying, "Ah this is bilingual boy," HAHAHA. Darn funny, I thought.

After that, we took group photos. Mannnn so excited! In an hour we'll be going to Beijing already. Hmm. Okay, shall stop crapping.

Walked and walked later. Till we reached some place, then we went into the plane. Gawd, my first time taking plane. Felt really great, somemore my seat was @ the window. Could like see everything. The clouds, the buildings (which seemed like ants from top), the river, EVERYTHING.

Okay, plane took off. It took us about 5 hours to reach Beijing airport. The journey to Beijing was rather boring. Thank goodness there was this screen in front of my seat that saved me from boredom. I watched two movies. Wall-e and uh, Hancock. Wall-e was so-so only, in fact quite boring. But Hancock was good. :)

At about 2 plus, we arrived @ Beijing. Before I got off, I had my jacket put on. Yes, the thick one. I was just being kiasu la whatever, hoho. :D Then we walked and walked and walked. There we are, at the beautiful Beijing, capital of China. Wheeeeeee :)

Did some normal procedure thang, and we wenta meet students from Beijing 54 Middle School. Hookay, I gotta admit that I'm damn jealous cuz the 54 students had their buddies to fetch them home straight after they reached Beijing. Huiwen students still had to go to Huiwen Middle School, then from there, go home with their buddy.

But, it was fine. Everyone was friendly. All was well, safe and sound. Took a picture and wheeee. Off we go to Huiwen Middle School! On the bus, we listened to the tour guide speak. She briefly introduced Beijing to us. Well, I guess everyone was quite tired, so we weren't so responsive. Sorry! But, I did write down notes hookay, I'm gooood ;)

Soon after, we arrived @ Huiwen. Okay, I was telling every one I'm damn damn damn nervous. Cos you know, I'm quite shy when it comes to meeting new friends. Serious okay! Not a joke. After that vrooom, my buddy popped out. He went like, "请问哪一位是荣坚?" So malu! Every one went, "OMG so cuteeeee!"

Yes, he is indeed cute, no adorable. His name is 齐晟, cool right? Sounds so much like 旗开得胜. Good name, applause! Okay, lame. Then we talked awhile before going his house. Then I didn't know that this lady I've been talking to for the past 10 minutes or so, WAS HIS MOMMA! HAHAHAHA. I thought she was a teacher. Okay, funny.

His parents're friendly. We talked quite a bit on our way to their house. His Daddy introduced Beijing to me, asked about my family background and stuff. Qi Sheng, however, was rather quiet. Well, I guess he doesn't talk much bah. :

Right, soon we arrived at his house. Yeh, so nervous! If I'm not wrong, his house in on the 6th storey. And because his flat has got no lifts, we climbed the stairs. It's not really very tiring la, cos the weather's cold so you won't perspire and feel that tired, compared to when you're in Singapore.

Reached his house, greeted his granny, and I was brought to his room. Put down my bag and went to bathe. Oh, I bathed like really long. 15-20 minutes, two times longer than the time I take to bathe in Singapore. You know, I didn't know how to use the heater, so half the time I was bathing in cold water. Like, really cold. :) But still, never minddd! Gotta learn to adapt and all.

Wheeeee ;) Then we went out to have our dinner. Omg so nice please, his parents asked me to put on a cap lest I catch a cold. That's like so nice of them, felt so happy. :DDD

In the car, we didn't know what to eat. They suggested some lamb thing, but I told them I can't eat beef, lamb so they changed their minds to 炸酱面 I think, which I think was fine since I've not tried it before. Then we chatted and chatted, suddenly I brought 北京烤鸭 up. Then they immediately switched their minds to eating 北京烤鸭 already. Omg, I only 随口说说,they took that for real.

Okay, indeed we wenta have 北京烤鸭. It's considered VERY GOOD for my first meal in Beijing okay. Furthermore, do you know where I ate 北京烤鸭? It's at 全聚德,the most famous restaurant in Beijing that sells 烤鸭. O wow, that's so fabulous right? *salivates*

As the most famous duck restaurant in Beijing, it is bound to be crowded right. Indeed, we'd to wait. And we were given queue numbers like quite cool right! Pardon me if I'm being too suaku. But, queue numbers're just so cool, like waiting to visit a doctor or something.

All in all, we waited for about half an hour. That's quite long I think, but considering that we're dining at a famous restaurant, the wait was DEFINITELY worthwhile. :)

So, uncle ordered several dishes. Quite a lot, I should say. It was so sumptuous I couldn't finish. I was already full before the last dish was served. Boohoo, nevertheless I forced myself to eat more. Yippee, I ate quite a lot. :) All ducks. And the duck is really really nice, especially with the sauce. Rules the world please! Loved.

After that, we took a few photos, like 1 only? And we left. Omg I'm missing 全聚德 now. It's like so nice. The food's delicious, the waitresses there're friendly, the environment's fantastic, everything's good. Just one thing: smokers simply can't resist their temptation to smoke there. I find it extremely irritating when people smoke when I'm in the midst of eating. Totally spoils everything when I inhale secondhand smoke. :-(

Never mind, shan't rant on this. We returned to Qi Sheng's house, and he lent me his laptop to use. MSN-ed with sister, Samuel and PPFFPP. She wanted me to get a Zhang Ai Ling book for her. That's fine with me, pal. :) Then I wrote my first day reflection. It was pretty short, nothing to write you see.

After which, I talked to Qi Sheng a little. Like find out what he's playing online. Then found out that he's playing some Runescape (China version) game. Like, okay. Normal.

We can't talk a lot la I think! All conversations were like initiated by MEEEE. Like, all?!?! And his answers are just, "hmm, yah,", or simply "oh," He'd never answer my questions then carry on talking. It was really tedious having to think of stuff to talk to him. :)

@ about 11pm, we turned in. Hmm. Really thank him and his family for the home stay. I really enjoyed myself, though it was only a day. Although we didn't talk much to each other, I learnt a lot about Beijing from your parents. Moreover, I will still be able to enjoy 1 more day with you during lessons. :)

HERE'S A BIG THANK YOU FROM ME TO YOU, UNCLE AND AUNTIE!
THANK YOU FOR THE WONDERFUL NIGHT! I REALLY FELT HOMEY AND WARM. :D

And now, time for the photos. Not a lot actually. But, preventing my blog from lagging, all photos shall be viewed at Picasa only. I think the website's quite user-friendly. You all can go view my other photos too! I've already uploaded till Day 6. :D Here's the link to day 1. Enjoy.

Day 1 Photos!

Stay tuned for my update on Day 2! Till then!
